Southwest Turkey Burgers

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 jalapeño, diced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices pepper jack cheese
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cup salsa

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, breadcrumbs, diced jalapeño, cilantro, and egg. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal burger patties.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the burgers for 6-7 minutes on each side, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of pepper jack cheese on each burger to melt.
  5. Assemble the burgers on the buns with avocado slices and salsa.

Notes

  • For extra moisture, you can add a tablespoon of olive oil to the turkey mixture.
  • Serve with additional toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, or your favorite sauces.
