- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup rice, uncooked
- 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano.
- Place half of the chopped cabbage in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Add half of the meat mixture on top of the cabbage.
- Layer half of the tomato sauce and crushed tomatoes over the meat.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cabbage, meat mixture, and tomato sauce.
- Add the rice on top.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the rice is tender and the meat is cooked through.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can include spices such as paprika or thyme.
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey or sausage for the ground beef.
