Slice and Bake Cookies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Divide the dough into two portions and shape each into a log.
  6. Wrap the logs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Slice the chilled logs into 1/4 inch slices and place them on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden.
  10. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For added flavor, try adding nuts or dried fruit.
  • Store extra dough in the freezer for up to 3 months.
