  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the cocoa powder and hot water to make a smooth chocolate batter.
  6. Pour half of the pumpkin batter into a greased cake pan, then layer the chocolate batter on top, and finish with the remaining pumpkin batter.
  7. Using a knife or skewer, swirl the batters together to create a marble effect.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.
