- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup hot water
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture, mixing until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the cocoa powder and hot water to make a smooth chocolate batter.
- Pour half of the pumpkin batter into a greased cake pan, then layer the chocolate batter on top, and finish with the remaining pumpkin batter.
- Using a knife or skewer, swirl the batters together to create a marble effect.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
