  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1/4 cup almond slivers
  • 1/4 cup dried raisins
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  2. Add garlic and spices, stirring for about a minute until fragrant.
  3. Add chicken pieces and brown on all sides.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 30 minutes.
  5. In a separate pot, rinse the basmati rice and cook according to package instructions.
