Million Dollar Italian Lasagna

  • 1 pound lasagna noodles
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, then add chopped onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Layer noodles, cheese mixture, and more meat sauce.
  7. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and remaining mozzarella on top.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat sauce.
  • This lasagna can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
