Gingerbread Cake Cinnamon Molasses Frosting

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add in the molasses and eggs, mixing until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk until everything is well combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool before frosting with cinnamon molasses frosting.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add chopped crystallized ginger to the batter.
