  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, spices, salt, and melted butter.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients. Knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough and spread brown sugar and spices on top.
  6. Roll up the dough into a log and cut into equal pieces.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 25-30 minutes until golden.
  9. Mix icing sugar with a little water to make a glaze and drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

  • For an extra chai flavor, you can steep chai tea bags in the milk before adding to the dough.
  • These rolls are best served warm but can also be stored and reheated.
